Safety while travelling is on everyone’s mind these days, which is a good thing. But often, we think we know the rules of international flights and don’t make sure all is well with our plans.
Don’t let new rules prevent you from reaching your work or holiday destination this year. We have a few tips that will help you prepare your travel documents.
1. Visit the Destination’s Government Website
Always visit the government’s website of the county you will visit to check their passport and visa requirements at least 2-3 months before departure. Print a copy of their official requirements to keep with you while travelling.
2. Review Your Airline’s Website for Their Requirements Too.
While the government may have their requirements, more and more airlines are publishing their own requirements for international travel. This has lead some travellers being denied passage.
The most common theme we are seeing is a requirement for a passport to be valid for six months after the entry date. But don’t take our word for it, check with your airline. And check with all airlines you will use during your trip.
3. Consult Timatic and Keep a Copy of Their Requirements
Timatic is a non-government website the airline industry uses to decide the passport, visa, and health requirements to travel to foreign countries. So print a copy of their list for each of your destinations and make sure you have all documents ready.
Whether you are travelling for work or holiday, make sure you have your visa and passport papers in order. Keep a copy of the government, airline, and Timatic requirements with you and you should not have any problems boarding your plane in 2020.
