Dante is a typical Fiorentine apartment with cotto floor and wooden beams located in via Toscanella, in the heart of oltrarno zone, close to the famous Palazzo Pitti and the street of the antique stores, Via Maggio. From there you will be able to reach all the tourist attractions by foot, such as Palazzo Vecchio and Uffizi Gallery.
The apartment is located in an ancient building of 15th century. It is on the first floor with elevator. It is a spacious apartment with high ceilings. Composed of a living room with a double sofa bed, dining area, a kitchen, a loft with a double bed and a bathroom with shower. Comfortably accommodates up to 4 people.
The Oltrarno - "Across the Arno" is the artisans' neighborhood, still packed with workshops where craftspeople hand-carve furniture and hand-stitch leather gloves. It began as a working-class neighborhood to catch the overflow from the expanding medieval city on the Arno's opposite bank, but it also became a rather chic area for aristocrats to build palaces on the edge of the countryside. The largest of these, the Pitti Palace, later became the home of the grand dukes and today houses a set of museums second only to the Uffizi. Behind it spreads the landscaped baroque fantasies of the Boboli Gardens, Florence's best park. Masaccio's frescoes in Santa Maria della Carmine here were some of the most influential of the early Renaissance.

I loved it -- it was clean and comfortable and charmingly furnished. The Dante Apartment is just steps from the Ponte Vecchio and the Pitti Palace, near an excellent little supermarket and right next to one of the best little gelaterias in Florence, Gelateria della Passera. The elevator works, and you only have to go up two steps to get to it. It was hot when we were there, but the apartment was always cool without using the air conditioning, because the walls are stone and about a metre thick, and the floor is ceramic tile. (There is a rug by the bed.) It always felt wonderful to come inside. The kitchen is really well equipped, and the fridge is big by Italian standards. It has everything. Theres even a hat stand. Minor downsides -- the stairs up to the loft are awkward, and easy to bang your head on. The loft is low, with beams, which look wonderful, but again, potentially hazardous, you need to be careful. The sofa bed creaks and is a bit lumpy. Cant think of any other negatives, this really is a great place. If I lived in it Id get a better sofa bed, but honestly Id be really happy to live in it. About as ideal as it gets.
Very close to (as in: in part of) historical center, and yet nice and quiet.
