The St. John's borough is in central Rome and has a long history as the place where the Roman Emperor Costantino gave the land for free to the early christians to build their first temple, nowadays well known as "San Giovanni basilica". The surroundings area is safe and very trendy with open air markets, fashion shops and gourmet or popular restaurants. One of our favorite is right next door and it is called Trattoria Etruria - make sure to try their delicious "rigatoni alla gricia". Easy access by foot, bus or tube to the many sights of the city.
The apartment is set to be one of the most fashionable places to live neighbouring the famous historic landmark of Colosseum, just 15 minutes by foot or 5 minutes by bus. At your doorstep is the Basilica of St. John and the sacred Sancta Sanctorum. The central station, and the famous landmark of the Spanish Steps are just minutes away by tube.
Ciampino city airport is 15 minutes by taxi. Fiumicino international airport is 35 minutes by taxi. Both airports can all be reached within 45 minutes by rail from the central station. The cost by taxi to get to Ciampino airport is approx €35. The cost by taxi to get to Fiumicino international airport is €48.
The metro station is 300 metres away from the house from where you can reach the Vatican in less than 15 minutes. To get to the Spanish steps is 8 minutes. To get to the Central Station is 4 minutes.
